Chalita is currently a clinical psychology doctoral student at Loma Linda University's School of Behavioral Health. Her research interests include community-academic partnerships in mental health care. She is particularly interested in effective treatments for adolescents and young adults including educational policy throughout high school and college and self therapy for those suffering from anxiety and depression. Chalita’s current doctoral research involves implementing DBT-based skills group therapy designed as an early intervention program for adolescents. She is currently focusing on the feasibility and effectiveness of holding such programs within a school setting, primarily catered toward low-income youth around the San Bernardino county area.
